From five trim levels, Volkswagen now offers the 2022 Tiguan in four: S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and SEL R-Line. The SE model has 18-inch aluminum wheels and full-LED external illumination, whilst the S has 17-inch aluminum wheels. The Tiguan SE R-Line Black has 19-inch black-painted wheels, black accents on more aggressive front and rear bumpers, black roof rails, a black headliner, and chrome elements inside and out. Either R-Line trim adds a lot of luxury and sporty appeal.
Every 2022 Tiguan comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 184 horsepower, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive technology is optional. A solid choice of SUV for a newer driver, the Tiguan is valued for efficiency over thrills, while still keeping ahead on the highway. Shifting down and in lower gears frequently, such as in a city or busy shopping center, is very easy while driving the Tiguan.
The 2022 Tiguan goes from zero to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds. EPA estimates for fuel efficiency are 23/29 mpg city/highway for FWD models and 21/27 city/highway mpg for AWD. The 2022 Tiguan can tow up to 1,500 pounds when properly equipped. Overall, the Tiguan emphasizes comfort without sacrificing agility. Expect a smooth, eager engine and well-coordinated automatic transmission, great for parents and their teen or college-age kids. Alternate models, such as the Tiguan R, also exist with potentially much more horsepower and performance equipment included.
The all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive 2022 Tiguan can seat up to seven passengers in three rows, while rear-wheel-drive Tiguan can seat up to five people in two rows. Cargo space in Tiguan with the third-row seat is 12.0 cubic feet. Two-row models have 37.6 cubic feet. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, so drivers who prefer their smartphone's interface to Volkswagen will be pleased; a Wi-Fi hot spot is also available and easy to use. Some models include an elite, 480-watt nine-speaker Fender audio system, an obvious inclusion for audiophiles. All models have a digital gauge display with an 8.0-inch or 10.3-inch display that may be modified to show a variety of data points.
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan received five out of five stars in the critical side-front crash test. A rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection are just a few of the advanced safety features that come standard. Front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high-beam headlamps and a surround-view parking camera system are among the available advanced safety items.
